Made it to Berlin, loved this city. Grungy, dark and industrial, would also have to be the Graff capital of the world. Finding a paint shop and a place to paint wasn’t too hard. I’d been told about this abandoned ice factory situated pretty much in the heart of the city, so I had to check it out…Painted a few things and met some VERY interesting people, the kind of people you would only meet on the rooftop of an abandoned building I guess.  “Key to the City” is what I named the main piece.

Had a quick paint in a Waterloo tunnel, this is what I came up with. I’m not sure why I painted a bleeding heart exactly, but somewhere i’m my deep subconscious I’m sure there is a reason for it. You can make your own mind up, take from it what you please…

Island Life

Riding around Gilli Trawangan, a small island off Lombok, I came across some old concrete structures, which looked to be some sort of unfinished housing project, slowly rotting away in the jungle. I thought it’d be a good place to paint.

With no access to spray paint though, I had to improvise. I managed to paint a few things on the abandoned walls with a concoction of sea water, sunscreen and cheap acrylics. Local police caught wind of me being there, luckily they seemed to like what they saw and only issued me with a smile and a hesitant nod of acknowledgement.

A few months back, I was painting a wall in Vic Park, and a lady walking her kids home from school approached me and asked if she could have the same kind of thing, on the side of her house. At first I wasn’t sure if she was serious, thinking that it was a pretty gutsy move. But she took a leap of faith, we met up, came up with a few concepts, and this is what we came up with. Such a nice family, just wanting to bring a bit of life and colour to their street. Had the pleasure of painting this with ArtByDestroy and Idol Motions over the last couple of weekends..

One I’ve been working on lately, inspired by a photo I came across in a Traditional Maori history book, ‘Mau Moko’. I enjoyed painting this one. It’s a combination of oils, aerosols and paint textas on wood.
